Georgia Ann Skender, 59, of Hamburg died Thursday, March 18, 2010, at her residence in Hamburg. A native of Jones, LA, and a resident of Hamburg for the past 43 years, she was a beautician and an active member of the Southside Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Steve Skender of Hamburg; two sons, Steven Anthony Skender and wife Nicky Lee and Michael Shane Skender, all of Crossett; two daughters, Margie Lynn Skender of Crossett and Hollie Pearson and husband John of Hamburg; three brothers, Reed Tanksley of Muscadine, AL, and Dennis and Donnie Tanksley of Hamburg; a sister, Lorraine Haynes of Wilmot; 11 grandchildren, Nicole "Nikki" Skender, Angela "Angie" Holland, Caleb Skender, Bryce Skender, Carson Skender, Parker Skender, Cody Pearson, Colton Pearson, Cierra Pearson, William Pearson and Johnna Mae Pearson; five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Millard and Virginia Woodard Tanksley; and a brother, Larry Tanksley.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 20, at the Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Pullin and Chris Tanksley officiating.
Burial was at the Hogue Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dewayne Brooks, Glen Lawson, John Dailey, Lamar Higginbotham, Bill Kelley and .Freddie McNeil. Honorary pallbearers were Stephen Dumas, Brad Kelley and Armando Cruz.
Memorials may be made to the Hogue Cemetery, c/o Steve Skender, 1126 S. Main Street, Hamburg, AR 71646. Funeral arrangements were by Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home of Hamburg.
