J.R. Dalton, one of the pioneer settlers of Rogers, died yesterday at his home two mile north of Maysville in the west end of the county. He was 87 years old. He was a native of Tennessee and came to Rogers 32 years ago when he built the house on the southeast edge of town, more recently known as the A.L. Jordan place. He moved to Maysville nearly twenty years ago. Seven children are living, Mrs. L. Sims of Grove; Mrs. W.B. McMullen, Peirce City, Mo.; Mrs. Bettie Jones of McMinnville, Tenn.; Rev. John Dalton of Muskogee; Robt. A. Dalton of Maysville; Mrs. W.H. Fowler and Mrs. S.A. Thomas of this city. He was the father of the late Jay Dalton of this city.
