SPRINGDALE -- Wayne Gordon Lewallen, 80, of Springdale died March 21, 1996, at his home. He was born Jan. 27, 1916, at Johnson to Virgil and Maude Graham Lewallen. He was a field superintendent for the city of Springdale water department for 31 1/2 years before retiring and was a 1935 graduate of Fayetteville High School. He was a member of the American Legion and the Moose Lodge and had received several state water association awards. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a Baptist and enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Clara Sailer Lewallen of the home, to whom he was married Sept. 6, 1936; two sons, Bill Lewallen of Hot Springs and Dick Lewallen of Claremore, Okla.; one brother, C.F. (Bus) Lewallen of Bentonville; two sisters, Ruby Osteen of Wichita, Kan., and Lola Paulk of Guthrie, Okla.; four grandchildren; one great-grandson.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Sisco Chapel of Springdale with the Rev. Burton A. Miley officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hospice, Washington Regional Medical Center, 1125 N. College Ave., Fayetteville, 72703.

OWASSO, Okla. — Clara A. Lewallen, 83, of Owasso died June 8, 2002, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Okla.

She was born Sept. 21, 1918, in Springdale to Joseph and Emma Hainey Sailer. She was a homemaker.

Her husband, Wayne Lewallen, died in 1996.

Survivors include two sons, Bill Lewallen and wife Linda of Hot Springs and Dick Lewallen and wife Betty of Claremore, Okla; one brother, Joe Sailer Jr. of Tulsa; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m today at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale with the Rev. Mark McCallister officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Lewallen, Doug Lewallen, Phillip Lewallen, Ron Susnik, John Lightner and Kevin Lightner. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry DeLozier, Sally DeLozier and the staff of Alterra Stirling House in Owasso.
