Mr. B. Max Crawley, 86, a lifelong area resident of rural Gravette, Ark., departed this life Friday evening, Jan. 29, 2010, at the Highland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Bella Vista, Ark., after several months of ill health.

Max was born Sept. 20, 1923, on the family farm near Maysville, Ark., son of the late William Clifford and Tina (All) Crawley. He attended high school both in Gravette, Ark., and Southwest City, Mo., graduating from Southwest City in 1942. On July 12, 1966, he was united in marriage to Mary Louise Woolman and together they have shared the last 43 years. For more than 50 years, he owned and operated Oak Ridge Game Farm near the Maysville Community. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Gravette, Ark.

His parents and a grandson, Johnny Dunfee Jr., preceded him in death.

Max is survived by his wife, Mary Crawley of the home; three daughters, Markeeta Puryear and husband, Richard, of Gravette, Ark., VVateena Ahrens of Gravette, Ark., and Coweeta King and husband, Kenny, of Vinita, Okla.; a son, Bobby Woolman and wife, Doris, also of Vinita, Okla.; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Don Crawley and wife, Jewell, of Maysville, Ark.; a sister, Muriel Ford and husband, James, of Grove, Okla.; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Crawley were 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, at the Church of Christ in Gravette, Ark., with the Revs. Bob Kirkley and Raymond Scott officiating. Burial followed in the Maysville Cemetery in Maysville, Ark. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers were Glenn Whitman Sr., Glenn Whitman II, Ozzie Rodgers, Mike Meek, Leroy Bedwell and Tommy Smith. The family received friends Tuesday, one hour prior to the service at the church. Friends paid their respects Monday from noon to 5 p.m. in the Southwest City Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes. Mrs. Mary Louise Crawley, 84, of Hiwasse, Arkansas, formerly of Maysville, Arkansas, departed this life on Thursday, January 23, 2020, at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville, Arkansas, after a recent decline in health.

Mary entered this life on March 30, 1935, in Hennessey, Oklahoma, daughter of the late Floyd and Margery (Fritz) Myers. She was raised in Vinita, Oklahoma and was a 1953 graduate of Vinita High School. She furthered her education by attending Tulsa Business School. In 1953, she was united in marriage to Bob Woolman and to this union six children were born. She later married Max Crawley on July 12, 1966 and together they had an additional daughter. In 1969, they purchased a farm and moved to Maysville, Arkansas. For over fifty years they owned and operated Oak Ridge Game Farm, raising thousands of game birds, shipping allover the US and worldwide. Mary enjoyed life on the farm not only raising birds but also cattle, a few hogs and always had a horse. Mary had a heart for service. She was a longtime member of the Gravette Church of Christ, an honored member of the Maysville Extension Homemakers Club and a 4-H leader for over thirty years. Mary loved music, learning at a young age to sing acapella, passing this talent down to her children and grandchildren. She took care of everyone like a loving mother whether they were her own kids or not. She always believed in her family which gave them the confidence to do anything and become anything their heart desired.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of forty-three years, Max Crawley on January 29, 2010; three children, Floyd, Bruce and Ramona Woolman; a grandson, Johnny Dunfee, Jr.; and two siblings, Judy Tipton and Lloyd “Chig” Myers.

Mary is survived by three daughters, Wateena Ahrens of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Coweeta King of Hiwasse, Arkansas and Markeeta Puryear and husband, Richard, of Gravette, Arkansas; a son, Bobby Woolman of Vinita, Oklahoma; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Floyd “Chief” Myers of Clarksburg, Indiana and Alfred “Mike” Myers of Vinita, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 27, 2020 at the Church of Christ in Gravette, Arkansas with Rev. Bob Kirkley officiating. Burial will follow in the Maysville Cemetery with Jamison Dunfee, Tyrell Woolman, Regan Puryear, JW Williams, Johnny Dunfee, Ramsey Puryear, Luke Payne, Stefen Frost and Mat Williams serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Memorials are being directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital c/o the funeral home.
