(from Maysville) David L. Jessee died at the home of his daughter, Mr. Allie Pace, on Friday, June 20th at 3 p.m. Mr. Jessee was in his 82nd year. He had been a devout Christian the larger part of his life and was loved by all who came in contact with him. The bereaved ones have the heartfelt sympathy of the whole community.

David L. Jesse was born November 6, 1842 at Mexico, Mo. and died June 20, 1924. He was married to Mary E. Read September 17, 1865. To this union eleven children, nine daughters and two sons, were born, of whom nine are living. Five daughters, Mrs. J.A. Pace, Mrs. Frank Lefors, Mrs. S.J. Whiteside, Mrs. J.E. Stump and Mrs. E.C. Thrasher, were at his bedside when death came. He professed faith in Christ early in life and lived a devout Christian. He showed his faith by his words, as he served many years in the offices of deacon, Sunday School superintendent, class teacher and choir leader in the Missionary Baptist church. Following the death of his wife on January 15, 1906 he married Mrs. Elizabeth Spangler of Maysville in July 1909. He moved with his family from Mexico, Mo. to Benton county, Arkansas in 1881, living first near Siloam Springs and later moving near Maysville where he made his home. He had been afflicted for the past seventeen months. Much of his time he was bed-fast at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J.A. Pace. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, June 21 by Bro. Lierly, pastor of the Maysville Baptist church. The casket was lowered to its last resting place in the Tinnin cemetery north of town. Those of his chidren not present are: Ray Jesse, Heber, Calif.; Mrs. Jarvis L. Fox, Spokane, Wash.; and Mesdames E.S. and E.T. Gibbs of Mexico, Mo.
