Joseph W. Fair, 81, of Gravette died Friday, March 31, 2006, in a local health care facility. He was born July 22, 1924, in Gravette to Hugh Fair and Nellie Austin
Fair.

Joseph graduated from Gravette High School, Class of 1942. He went to work in the ship yards in Bremerton, Wash., and served in the United States Navy during World War II. He attended the University of Chicago, Bowling Green Ohio University, and Illinois Institute of Technology while in Officer's Candidate School. While in the Navy he enjoyed boxing.

Joseph retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 33 years of service, as a rural route carrier. He enjoyed playing the guitar, and in earlier years had played with Tex Ritter.

He was a lifetime resident of Gravette and enjoyed gardening, working in his yard, and making homemade candy for family and friends. He was a 50-year member of the John E. Tracy American Legion Post 25 of Gravette; a 50-year member of the Bethel Masonic Lodge 232. Joseph served more than 50 years as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. At the time of his death he was serving as a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Beacon Baptist Church in Gravette.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Pauline A. Fair of the home; two sons, Joseph W. Fair Jr. of Bentonville, Paul Fair and his wife Bonnie of Gentry; three daughters, Mary Ford and her husband Theron of Bentonville, Beverly Galbraith of Rogers, Lynn Cowick and her husband Mike of Gravette; a sister Evalyn Kirby and her husband Louis of Gravette; nine grandchildren, Reed Galbraith, Natalie Duncan, Chris Galbraith, Matthew Ford, Rick Fair, Kindra Kilker, Bill Fair, Ryan Cowick, Andy Cowick, 10 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Joseph was preceded in death by three sisters, Ella Hendren, Virginia Boydston and Juanita Phillips.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 3, 2006, at Beacon Baptist Church in Gravette.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at Beacon Baptist with Pastor Dan Fagala and Judge Jimm Hendren officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery with military honors.

Pallbearers will be Oliver Duncan, Glenn A. Duffy, Hershall Brandon, John Graham, Clark Russow and Lee Donnell.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Boydston, Louis Kirby, Theron Ford, Mike Cowick, Julian Hendren, Kim Hendren, Jimm Hendren, Dale Phillips, Jack Russell and George Haley.

Memorials may be made in honor of Joseph W. Fair to the Beacon Baptist Church Youth Program, 805 Highway 59 South, Gravette, 72736.

All funeral arrangements were made under the direction of Stockdale Funeral Services of Rogers.

BENTONVILLE — Pauline Annabelle Welton Fair, 88, of Bentonville, Ark., passed away Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, at Highlands Healthcare and Rehab in Bella Vista, Ark. She was born Nov. 17, 1925, in Carthage, Mo., to Paul Henry Welton and Floy Regina Hertwick Welton.

Pauline married Joseph Wiley Fair on Oct. 23, 1944, and together they raised five children.

She was an avid reader and was passionate about her family and especially loved her grandchildren. She was a member of Beacon Baptist Church in Gravette, Ark.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph Fair Sr. in 2006; one son, Paul Fair, and a brother, Paul Henry Welton Jr. (Bud).

Pauline is survived by her son, Joseph W. Fair Jr. of Bentonville; three daughters, Mary Ford and husband, Theron, of Gentry, Ark., Beverly Galbraith of Farmington, N.M., and Lynn Cowick and husband, Mike, of Gravette, Ark.; daughter-
in-law, Bonnie Fair of Gentry, Ark.; nine grandchildren, Reed Galbraith, Chris Galbraith, Natalie Duncan, Matthew Ford, Rick Fair, Bill Fair. Kindra Kilker, Ryan Cowick and Andrew Cowick; and several great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at Beacon Baptist Church, 805 S.W. 1st Ave., Gravette, AR 72736.

Graveside will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at Bethel Cemetery in Gravette.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Pauline's honor to the Youth Program at Beacon Baptist Church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services of Rogers.
