MELBOURNE — Howard Payton Moore, 97, of Melbourne died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, in Melbourne. Born Dec. 27, 1913, in Texaco, N.M., he was the son of Garnett Aster Moore and Sarah Carmichael Moore. He was united in marriage to Erma Rhea "Ritty" Williams on Dec. 24, 1940, in Jumbo. He was employed in the timber industry as a logger and at Bandmill Gin Company and was a farmer. He was of the Baptist faith and was a long-time member of Belview Baptist Church.Survivors include his wife of 70 years; two sons, Howard Wayne Moore and Stuart Alan Moore, both of Melbourne; two daughters, Joan Heuer of Independence, Mo., and Diane Langston of Melbourne; a brother, Neal Moore of Melbourne; eight grandchildren, Tammy Johnson, Clint Harris, Brent Harris, Gaila Holowell, Wayna Gunther, Wade Moore, Payton Moore and Marissa Moore; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Harold Moore; two brothers; three sisters; and a grandson, Kyle Moore. The funeral was at 2 p.m. Sunday at Belview Baptist Church in Melbourne with Raymon Carneal officiating. Burial was in Melbourne Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne. Pallbearers were Brent Harris, Clint Harris, Lee Harris, Zac Harris, Wade Moore, Payton Moore, Howard Paul Langston and Larry Heuer.
