MELBOURNE -- Goldie Marie Sears Estes, 94, of Melbourne died Sunday, June 1, 2008, in Calico Rock.
Born Feb. 22, 1914, in Wild Cherry, she was the daughter of William Glenn Sears and Minnie Ola Knapp Sears. She was united in marriage to Robert Dales Estes in March 1934. She was a homemaker and was employed by Baxter Laboratories in Mountain Home from 1956 to 1972. She was of the Methodist faith and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Melbourne for over 60 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Sue Estes of Melbourne; two sisters, Gladys Wallis of Modesto, Calif., and Etha Lee Hale of McAlester, Okla.; five grandchildren, Davie Estes, Kelly Estes, Michael Rittenhouse, Kevin Rittenhouse and Mary Beth Rittenhouse Himes; six great-grandchildren; a step-grandson; and several nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Esther Bland Sears; her husband; a son, R.J. Estes; two brothers; and three sisters.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Roman and Billy Howard Memorial Chapel in Melbourne with Terry Sager and Laurie DeWitt officiating. Burial will be in Melbourne Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
Pallbearers will be Bob Rector, Lee Campbell Watson, Jim Muncy, Mark Herrington, Shane Linn and Sam Cron.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church in Melbourne.
