Perry Mac Dutton, 69, son of the late Ruby F. Dutton and Elizabeth McCarver Dutton, was born June 16, 1938 in Batesville, Ark. He died Sept. 6, 2007 in Melbourne. Perry graduated from Batesville High School. He was a member of the Arkansas National Guard during the time of the Central High Crisis in Little Rock. Perry spent his life as a newspaper man. His newspaper career began as a young boy, he had a Batesville Guard paper route. After high school, he went to work full time for the Batesville Guard. He went on to work for the Arkansas Democrat and many other newspapers throughout the state. In 1969, he established Dutton Printing in Melbourne. Dutton Printing owned and printed several newspapers in the Izard County area, including the Melbourne Times, the Calico Rock Progress and the Spring River Times. On Sept. 9, 1989 in Melbourne Perry married Debbie Huskey. During his lifetime, he was a member of many press associations, such as the Arkansas Press Association. Perry was of the Church of Christ faith and a member of the Melbourne Church of Christ.
He is survived by: his wife of 17 years, Debbie Dutton of the home; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Matt and Lacey Adams of Melbourne and Travis and Alicia Adams of Bryant; seven daughters and six sons-in-law:, Dianna and Joe Edmonds of Mountain Home, Paula and Mike Willhite of Newport, Tangie and Marty Duchanoy of Maumelle, Hope and Kris Caraway of Mount Pleasant, Dawn and Shane Magness of Newark, Gina Quarders of Melbourne and Perri Michele and David Washington of Oxford; one brother, Billy F. Dutton and wife Rhoda of Collierville, Tenn.; two sisters, Catherine Swaim of Batesville and Betty and husband Bill Davidson of Des Arc; 15 grandchildren, Brayden Adams, Sydney McFarland, James Long, Laura Long, Alex Long, Korey Caraway, Kristen Caraway, Whitney Magness, Morgan Wood, Sarah Ragle, Katherine Quarders, Kennedy Quarders, Taren Alman, Nicholas Washington, Paxton Washington; three great-grandchildren, Gage Alman, Lorelei Alman and Olivia Washington; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral service were held Sept. 8 at the Melbourne Church of Christ with Doyne Robertson and Finis Brewer officiating. Burial followed in the Melbourne Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne. Pallbearers were Shannon Womack, Joe Martz, Kirk Ratliff, George Smith, Jeff Huskey, and Gray Dellinger. Memorials may be made to: Alzheimer's Association Chapter Headquarters, 6465 S.
