MELBOURNE – John Thomas Stroud, 78, of Melbourne died Tuesday, June 29, 2004, in Batesville.
Born May 18, 1926, in Knob Creek, he was the son of Levi and Nellie Byler Stroud. He was a carpenter, a World War II veteran and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include three daughters, Deloris Brown of Sage, Marlene Hutchins of Lacrosse and Darlene Sartin of Melbourne; a brother, Junior Stroud of Melbourne; seven grandchildren, Chris Brown, Chad Brown, Stacey Herron, Amber Bromley, Jessie Hutchins, Brandy Stigall and Dennis Sartin; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Connie Stroud Townsend; and a sister, Hazel Newland Cantrell.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Roman and Billy Howard Memorial Chapel with Doyne Robertson officiating. Burial will be in Combs Cemetery under the direction of Eddie’s Family Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Chris Brown, Chad Brown, Dennis Sartin, Jessie Hutchins, Jason Stigall and Chris Layne.
