MELBOURNE - Ellis Eldon Thompson, 83, of Melbourne died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, in Melbourne. Born April 12, 1920, he was the son of Burley and Myrtle David Thompson. He was a farmer and served in the Navy. Survivors include two daughters, Jeffie Hellums of Violet Hill and Sue Jones of Bryant; three brothers, Rayburn Thompson of San Diego, Larry Thompson of Washington and Burl Thompson of Melbourne; four sisters, Melba Treat of Flippin, Hellen Gillihan, Jimmie Gillihan and Delma McCollum, all of Melbourne; five grandchildren, Lyndell Hellums, Gaye Arnold, Kay Rush, Brent Jones and Janet Wilburn; seven great-grandchildren, Jessica Hartgraves, Samantha Arnold, Savannah Adkins, Colby Adkins, Jackie Hellums, Joey Hellums and Hayden Thompson Jones; and a great-great-grandchild, Keirston Hartgraves. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two wives. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Roman and Billy Howard Memorial Chapel with Eric Williamson and Donald Gillihan officiating. Burial will be in the Combs Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne. Pallbearers will be Lyndell Hellums, Brent Jones, Danny Franks, Bill Hellums, Steven Shrable and John Goelze. Honorary pallbearers are Michael Denny, Lloyd Jeffery, Paul Rush, Boyce Gillihan, Shelby Gillihan, George Gillihan, Junior Gillihan and Jay Wilburn. Visitation is from 6 to 8 tonight. Memorials may be made to the Calico Rock hospice, P.O. Box 438, Calico Rock, AR 72519.
