MELBOURNE - Mildred Walker Soward, 81, of Melbourne died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, in Searcy.
Born July 20, 1921, at Boswell, she was the daughter of Uen Garlfield Walker and Ora Cooper Walker. She was employed in retail sales in Jonesboro and worked as a nurses' aide at Pioneer Nursing Home. She was a member of Prospect Baptist Church in Jonesboro.
Survivors include six nephews, Roy Walker, Ray Walker, Kern Robbins, Dean Walker, Gary Walker and LeRoy Robbins; four nieces, Wanda Wycoff, Brenda Collins, Joann Barker and Jean Hames; and a sister, Zela Robbins of Searcy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alvin Riley "Bill" Soward; and four brothers, Howell Walker, Hubert Walker, Van Walker and Leeman Walker.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Eddie's Family Funeral Home with Jim Collins officiating. Burial will be in Combs Cemetery at Melbourne.
Pallbearers are Dean Walker, Donald Black, Bill Hames, Greg West, Randy Eligh and Steve Feather.
Honorary pallbearers are Roy Walker, Ray Walker, Kern Robbins, Leyon Hames and Wayne Hopper.
Visitation is today from 6 to 8 p.m.
