{from Pleasant Valley} James Hubbard Kennedy was born Aug. 11, 1859 at Galacia, Illinois and died January 2, 1929 at his home in the Pleasant Valley vicinity. At the age of 18 he was converted and united with the M.E. Church of which he was a faithful member until his death. Uncle Hub, as he was familiarly called, moved to this community in 1907 and has lived here since except for a brief time which he spent in Missouri. Two sons, Leonard of Tulsa, Okla. and Millard of El Paso, Texas. arrived in time for the funeral. A daughter of Doniphan, Mo. was unable to come. After funeral services, conducted at the M.E. Church by the Reverends Hall and Henderson, the remains were laid to rest in the Springtown cemetery Friday afternoon. Besides his wife and three children he leaves a host of friends to mourn his departure. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of the entire community.
