MELBOURNE – William O. Petago, 85, of Melbourne died Wednesday, June 15, 2005, in a Calico Rock hospital.
Born March 1, 1920, in Baldwyn, Miss., he was the son of William E. and Myrtle Alice Boren Petago. He was united in marriage to Linda Smallwood. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and received the Purple Heart. He was a farmer and a commercial fisherman in Trumann and Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a brother, Edmond Petago; and three sisters, Lois Groves, Flois Waldo and Mary Fay Turnbo.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Combs Cemetery in Melbourne with Jeff Sanders officiating. Arrangements are by Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne. Pallbearers will be Jerry Hicks, Boyce Jeffery, Dar Stow, Gary Potter, Allen Nagel and Scotty Pate.
