Arthur Eulon "Red" Gillihan
June 18, 1918 - September 5, 1998

Arthur Eulon "Red" Gillihan, passed away at the age of 80 years on September 5, 1998, in Mountain Home, AR.He was born at Twin Creek on June 18, 1918, and worked with timber and sawmills most of his life. He married Crystal M. McMillen Hinkle on June 14, 1997.

Most recently, he made his home in Salesville, but lived in Mtn. View, AR for many years. He was a member of the Norfork Church of Christ and was well known for his fiddle playing.

He served in WWII with the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife, Crystal M. Gillihan of Salesville; a son, Robert E. Gillihan of Mtn. View; six daughters, Lois W. Walters of Haskell, OK, Evelyn K. Bladshaw of Danville, AR, Vivian A. Berry of Fordyce, AR, Phyllis B. Hood of Havana, AR, Rosemary Kenny of Bartlett, TN, and Connie S. Bell of Lamar, AR; three brothers, Ray Gillihan of Ocean Park, WA, Dallas Gillihan of Melbourne, and Ervin Gillihan of Melbourne; two sisters, Hazel Gillihan Thompson of Mtn. View, and Avy Maxine Gillihan Vines of Eudora, Ka; one stepson, Ronnie Hinkle of Corning, AR; three step daughters, Joan Burgess of West Plains, MO, Joyce Williams of Mtn. Home, AR, and Emily Spencer of Corning, AR; 27 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene Jeffery Gillihan; his parents, Owen M. and Lillie Gulley Gillihan; and two brothers.

Funeral service was held on Wed., Sept. 9, 1998 at 11 a.m. at the Norfork Church of Christ with Bro. Charles Rose officiating.

Burial was in Combs Cemetery in Melbourne with Bro. Frank Curtis officiating.

Arrangements were by Kirby and Family Funeral Directors, Mountain Home.

Oleata Irene Jeffery Gillihan, 72, of Mtn. View, AR, died Thursday, April 13, 1995 at her home. She was born on March 29, 1923 at Boswell, AR, the daughter of Earl and Hester Mayfield Jeffery. She and Arthur Eulon Gillihan were united in marriage on March 21, 1944 at San Louis Obispo, CA. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ in Mtn. View. Survivors include her husband, Arthur of the home; six daughters, Lois W. Walters of Morris, OK, Evelyn K. Bladshaw of Danville, AR, Vivian A. Berry of Fordyce, AR, Phyllis B. Hood of Havana, AR, Rosemary Kenny of Bermuda, and Connie S. Bell of Lamar, AR; one son, Robert Gillihan of Mtn. View; five sisters, Pauline Russell of Mtn. Home, AR, Iva Trice of Athens, GA, Nancy Sheffield of Melbourne, Eloise Oliver of Camden, AR, and Attie Rush of Brockwell, AR; four brothers, Clarence Jeffery of Franklin, AR, Walton Jeffery of Bastrap, LA, Robert Jeffery of Bossier City, LA, and Paul Jeffery of Liberty, MO; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services were Monday, April 17, at 2 p.m. in Howard Chapel in Melbourne, with Frank Curtis officiating. Burial was in Combs Cemetery at Melbourne under the directions of Howard Funeral Home of Melbourne. Pallbearers were Bobby Earl Sheffield, Boyce Jeffery, Noel Jeffery, Paul Gillihan, Jerry Jeffery, and Edwin Watt.

(15) Obituary: White River Current, - April, 1996 Opal Dean Gillihan, daughter of the late Oscar Ray and Beulah Lawrence Burgess, was born January 27, 1938, in Forty-Four, AR. She died April 8, 1996, in Melbourne, AR. She was 58. Mrs. Gillihan was united in marriage to Paul Junior Gillihan June 4, 1956, in Calico Rock. To this union two children were born. She was a member of the Redbud EHC Club and a faithful member of the Twin Creek Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband, of the home; one daughter, Beverly Gillihan Dew of Bethesda,AR; one son, Ronald Junior Gillihan of Melbourne; three sisters, Maxine Lynn of Mountain Home, AR; Melba Gillihan and Marilyn Smith of Calico Rock; three brothers, Noel, Johnny, and Jimmy Burgess, all of Calico Rock; and six grandchildren. Services were held April 10 at the Church of Christ in Melbourne with Brother Ralph Wallis officiating. Pallbearers were Jason Loggains, Tim Vest, Gene McSpadden, Donald Gillihan, Ronald Moser, and Chuck Mynatt. Honorary Pallbearers were Paul Gillihan and John Ross. Interment was at the Combs Cemetery in Melbourne under the direction of Howard Funeral Home in Melbourne.
