Married Christena "Teney" Haynes around 1878. Six children were born from their marriage: Nancy Ellen, Charles Casel, Joseph Luke Lee, Mary Ida Elizabeth, Maggie Belle, & Lillie R Hayes. John and Christena moved to Barling, Arkansas in 1881. For a period of time, John served as Barling's Postmaster, and later owned and operated a store.



Teney
November 6, 1858 - 1933

Daughter of Matilda "Tilda" McCorkle & Joseph Truston Haynes of Meigs County, Tennessee. She married John Casel Hayes around 1878 in Tennessee. They moved to Arkansas around 1881. Six children were born from their marriage: Nancy Ellen, Charles Casel, Joseph Luke Lee, Mary Ida Elizabeth, Maggie Belle & Lillie R Hayes.

She died in 1933, at the age of 73, and is buried next to her husband, John Casel Hayes, and her father, Joseph Truston Haynes. Her residence at the time of death was 1622 South 16th Street in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Her cause of death was noted as "organic heart trouble."
