McCoy Carter, 70, of Crossett died Monday, April 30, 2012, at his residence. Born on May 24, 1941, in Milo to Watson McCoy, Sr., and Dorothy Nell Smith Carter, he was a self-employed carpenter, enjoyed hunting and attended the Meridian Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Carter of Crossett; three sons, Tommy Carter and Randall Carter of Bastrop, LA, and Randy Smith and wife Debbie of Crossett; one daughter, Liz Mathews and husband Henry of Crossett; one daughter-in-law, Sylvia Carter of Bastrop; two brothers, Jimmy Carter and wife Jerri of Crossett and Kenneth Carter of Pine Bluff; two sisters, Doris Arnold and husband Lee of Pine Bluff and Ann Courson and husband Bill of Crossett; eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Warren McCoy Carter; and a brother, Billy Carter.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 2, at Meridian Baptist Church with Bro. Kevin McDaniel officiating. Pallbearers were Brandon Carter, Zachery Carter, Tyler Carter, Carl Mathews, Blake Smith and Jason Pickett. Honorary pallbearers were Raymond Brown, Greg Donald, Bill McLeod and Allen Jackson. Burial followed at the Carter Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett. Guest book at www.jonesservice.com.
