Lee Roy Shaver of Melbourne, son of the late Herbert and Lilly Brooks Shaver, was born March 16, 1910 at Lunenburg. He died January 4, 2001 at Pioneer Nursing and Rehab Center in Melbourne. He was 90.

Mr. Shaver was united in marriage to Maggie Hall in Gid in 1930. He was a member of Pinegrove Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Georgie Lawrence of Melbourne; five grandchildren, Kitty Marsyla, Dennis Lawrence, Marty Fulbright and Penny Price, all of Melbourne and Shelly Dale of Mount Pleasant; seven great-grandchildren; one half-brother, Clarence Lawrence of Batesville and one half-sister, Vertie McGaha of Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maggie; one daughter, Shirley Fulbright; one grandson, Rocky Lawrence; three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services were held January 6, 2001 at Pine Grove Church on Guion Road with Steve Stevenson officiating.

Pallbearers were Russ Price, Glen Williams, Marty Fulbright, Gary Dale, Troy Shaver and Carl Shaver.
Interment was at Reeves Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Home of Melbourne.

Mrs. Maggie Ethel Shaver aged 76 of Melbourne; wife of Roy Shaver, died Wednesday, Sept 3, 1980. She was a Methodist.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Georgia Lawrence of Melbourne and Mrs. Shirley Fulbright of Mt. Pleasant; a brother, Claud Hall of West Plains, Mo.; a sister, Mrs. Jewell Lewis of Melbourne and six grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Reeves Chapel Church at Guion. Burial was at Reeves Cemetery by Davies’ Batesville Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Eudell Smith, Kenny Morrison, Shelly Griffis, Ricky Brooks, Charles Brooks and Delmus Moser.


Note: The name on the gravestone is inscribed Roy Lee; however, He was recorded as Lee Roy in the marriage record, the social security index, and the obituary.
