Lloyd Seborn Jeffery of Melbourne, Arkansas

Lloyd passed away Monday, March 06, 2017 at Calico Rock Medical Center in the presence of his daughter Renee. He was born in Boswell on December 13, 1926. His “official” birthday is recorded as December 12 since the 13th fell on a Friday.

He is preceded in death by his son, Randy Jeffery of Little Rock, his wife Robbie Campbell Jeffery, and his parents Nora A. Sartin Jeffery and Johnnie Lloyd Jeffery all of Melbourne.

He is survived by his daughter, Renee Jeffery Smith and son-in-law Danny Smith of Hot Springs; his granddaughter and grand son-in-law, Tara Yvette Finley Spangler (fondly known as “Vet” by him) and Dwayne Spangler of Melbourne; grandson, Joe Beary of Batesville; three great grandchildren: Robbie Gayle Spangler of Mountain View, Leathyr Spangler of Ohio and Joshua Spangler of Ohio; one great great grandson: Jacyer of Ohio and a host of family and friends.

Lloyd enlisted in the U. S. Army during WW II in the spring of 1945 when he was a senior in high school. After graduation and completion of basic training, he was stationed in Occupied Japan for 18 months. After military service, he married Robbie Campbell and worked in farming and delivering milk, as well as spending several harvest seasons in Washington State. He hauled propane gas for years in Melbourne and retired from the State of Arkansas working in the Miscellaneous Tax Division for over 20 years, finally retiring in 2003. During his years of service to the State, he was responsible for county, district and state fairs. Both family and many children in Melbourne remember him giving them fair passes and bringing them stuffed animals He was a long time member and treasurer of Combs Cemetery Association. He provided comfort to countless families throughout the years assisting them choose plots for their loved ones and comforting them in times of need. He encouraged Dwayne Spangler to establish Izard County Stick Shooters and hold 3D Archery competitions for the past 11 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church for many years serving as a Sunday school teacher as well as a Deacon. He will forever be remembered as a friend to all.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 10 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Eddie’s Family Funeral Home in Melbourne. Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 11 at 2:00 p.m. at Howard Memorial Funeral Chapel in Melbourne. Burial with military honors will be at Combs Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Combs Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 1001, Melbourne, AR 72556.

Pallbearers: Willis Morehead, Teddy Morehead, Matt Churchwell, Clovis Vest, Tom Little, John Allen Englehardt.

Honorary Pallbearers: Brad Sipe, Rocky Campbell, R. H. Smith, Boyce Gillihan, Larry Sartin, Charles Everett.
