Danny Ray Smith Sr., 50, of Crossett died Tuesday, December 31, 2002, at the Ashley County Medical Center. A lifelong resident of Ashley County, he was a retired law enforcement officer and a member of Rolfe Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee and Lilly May Self Smith.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Blondell Smith; three sons, Danny Ray Smith Jr. and wife Becky and Anthony Weston Smith, both of Crossett, and Robert Dewayne Smith and wife Kelly of Hamburg; one daughter, Darlene Denise McCraw and husband Vincent of Hamburg; one brother, Roger Wayne Smith of Texarkana; one sister, Sheila Cassidy of Crossett; one stepbrother, Bobby Addington of Shreveport, TX; one half sister, Violet Marie Lee of Silsbee, TX; and five grandchildren, Daniel Hunter, Drayton Dewayne and Tyler Owen Smith, Lilly Mae McCraw and Vincent Paul McCraw Jr.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 3, at 1:30 p.m. at Rolfe Chapel Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Carlton White officiating. Burial was at Antioch Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg. Pallbearers were Ken Turner, Levi Gray, Bull Wells, Rick Rausch, Wayne Neal, Bobby Linder Sr. and Adolphus McHenry.
