DALLAS RAYMOND GILLIHAN

Dallas Raymond Gillihan, 87, of Batesville died Monday, November 13, 2006, at his home. Born November 12, 1919, in Twin Creek, he was the son of Owen and Lillie Gulley Gillihan.

He was united in marriage to Lorene Vest on July 10, 1943, in Jumbo, AR. He worked 14 years as a bus mechanic at Melbourne School and was a truck driver, logger, farmer and worked at a sawmill. He was a member of North Heights Church of Christ in Batesville.

Survivors include his wife: two sons, Roy Gillihan and Larry Gillihan, both of Batesville, two sisters, Hazel Fletcher of Springdale and Maxine Vines of Eudora, KS; five grandchildren, Chris Gillihan, Mark Gillihan, Keith Gillihan, Jennifer Gillihan and Michael Gillihan; seven great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and seven brothers, Willard Gillihan, Eulon Gillihan, Ray Gillihan, Ervin Gillihan, Elmo Gillihan and two infants.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Roman and Billy Howard Memorial Chapel in Melbourne with Ralph Wallis officiating.

Burial will be in Combs Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.

Pallbearers will be Chris Gillihan, Mark Gillihan, Keith Gillihan and Michael Gillihan.

Honorary Pallbearers are Boyce Gillihan, Shelby Gillihan, Junior Gillihan, Thurl Vest, Kenneth Bone, Shelby Qualls and Glen Billingsley.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
