Fred Daniel Dwight, 91, son of the late Fred Daniel Dwight and Myrtle Smith Dwight, was born on July 13, 1913, in Redondo Beach, Calif. He died Jan. 10, 2005, at his home in Brockwell, Ark. He married Marie Alta Copeland June 4, 1947, in Reno, Nev. To this union four children were born. During his working year in CA, he was a commercial and residential building contractor. During World War II, he served in the United States Navy attaining the rank of carpenter's mate second class. In November of 1945 he received an honorable discharge. He was a member of the Zion Hill Baptist Church. Survivors include; his wife of 57 years, Marie Dwight of the home; two daughters and one son-in-law - Cherylene and Don Johnson of Zion, and Donna Dwight of Bald Knob; three sons and two daughters-in-law; Leroy and Sharon Dwight of Garden Valley, Calif., and Gary and Karen Dwight of Calico Rock, Ark., and Danny Kirkland of Calif.; two sisters - Juanita Gray of Chula Vista, Calif., and Cholie Rudge of Redondo Beach, Calif.; 15 grandchildren - Casey Grant, Amy Murphree, Donnie Johnson, Julie Rhodes, Melissa Summers, Jeremy Banning, Elijah Banning, Sarah Banning, Kohn Dwight, Jennifer Frost, Leanna Dwight, Daniel Dwight, Josef Dwight, Marsha Love, and Bernice Anthony; eight great-grandchildren' two step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Earl Dwight; a sister Emma Dwight, an infant sister; and two grandsons - Jason Banning and Zachariah Banning. The funeral was Jan. 14, at the Roman and Billy Howard Memorial Chapel in Melbourne with Larry Strope officiating. Burial was at Combs Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne. Pallbearers were Casey Grant, Jerry Murphree, Daniel Dwight, Donnie Johnson, Kohn Dwight and Jeremy Banning. Honorary Pallbearers were Bill Newell, J.W. Moser, Hugh Moore and Wilton Thompkins.
