LITTLE ROCK - Willie P. Blankenship, 76, of Alexander died Saturday, March 22, 2003, at a Little Rock hospital.
Born June 3, 1926, in Melbourne, he was the son of Teddy and Aslee Neal Blankenship. He grew up on the family farm and lived there until 1944 when he was inducted into the U.S. Army. He was a veteran military police officer of World War II and an active officer of the American Legion in Saline County.
Survivors include a son, William Timothy Blankenship; a daughter, Deanna Warren; a stepson, Stephen W. Daigle of Norfolk, Va.; two sisters, Zelpha Dean Riggs of Batesville and Edith Morehead of Melbourne; and a brother, Robert C. Blankenship; and five grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home Chapel in Melbourne with the Rev. Ed Stoddard officiating. Burial will be in Combs Cemetery at Melbourne with arrangements by Roller-Drummond Funeral Home of Little Rock.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Roller-Drummond Southwest Funeral Home.
