Rutherford "R.D." Short

SPRINGDALE — Rutherford D. "R.D." Short, 68, of Springdale died Sept. 19, 2005, at Northwest Medical Center of Washington County in Springdale. He was born Aug. 10, 1937, in Carrington, N.D., to Rutherford Dewey and Deana Vining Short. He was employed by Tyson Foods in the long haul road service. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Springdale. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Short of the home, to whom he was married Aug. 17, 1965; four sons, Doug Short of Germany, Carl Dean Short of Sulphur Springs, Rutherford Short and David J. Short, both of Texas; two daughters, Rita Marie Short and Patricia Ann Short, both of Texas; five brothers, Terry Short of Ccoperstown, N.D., Dave Short and Brian Short, both of McHenry, N.D., Jack Short of Portland, N.D., Tim Short of McHenry; five sisters, Maxine Olsen of Pelican Rapids, Minn., Ruth Zidon of Glyndon, Minn., Roberta Williams of New Rockford, N.D., Judy Cutworth of New Rockford and Linda Summerville of Minnewaukan, N.D.; 16 grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sisco Chapel in Springdale with the Rev. Don Elmore officiating.

Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
