LaVon B. Thompson

LaVon B. Thompson, 82, of Springdale passed away Nov. 9, 2006, at Northwest Medical Center-Springdale. She was born Sept. 12, 1924, in Salt Lake City to Milton LeRoy and Hazel Emma Turner Bennett. She had lived in the area since 1953, coming from Honolulu. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Fayetteville. She was preceded in death by her husband, George L. Thompson, in 1982; a sister, Louise Bennett, and brother, Alvin Bennett.

Survivors include one son, Larry K. Thompson and wife Jolene of Heber Springs; two daughters, Terry A. Gentry of Tulsa, Okla., Gayle L.Lewis and husband Jim of Springdale; one brother, Merle Bennett of Salt Lake City; two sisters, Viola Croft of Salt Lake City and Alla Mae Jensen of Cedar City, Utah; three sisters-in-law, Louella Bennett of Chandler, Ariz., Dee Kennedy of Edmond, Okla., Jeanette Porter of Newport, R.I.; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Fayetteville with Bishop Leon L. Lieutard officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery in Springdale.

Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, c/o Area Agency on Aging, 2325 N. Green Acres Road, Fayetteville, 72703.

Arrangements are by Sisco Chapel in Springdale.
