MELBOURNE – Bobby Ray Haley, 78, of Melbourne died Tuesday, March 4, 2008, in Mountain Home.
Born Feb. 5, 1930, in Shamrock, Texas, he was the son of Ewell and Lola O'Neal Haley. He served in the U.S. Air Force, attaining the rank of master sergeant. He retired after 22 years of service. He was united in marriage to Norma Jeanne Sargent on June 27, 1951, in Las Cruces, N.M. He opened an appliance repair shop after they moved to Arkansas. He was active in the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Horseshoe Bend, having served as president. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include a daughter, Cathy Franks of Calico Rock; two brothers, Jim Haley of Melbourne and Gary Haley of Wenatchee, Wash.; two sisters, Mary Loggains of Melbourne and June Maxwell of Gamaliel, Mo.; six grandchildren, Todd Tomlinson of Zion, Genna Curry of Tulsa, Okla., Spring Cordes of Arapaho, Okla., Robin Burleson of Canonsburg, Pa., Billy Bob Franks of Calico Rock and Holly Thornley of Brockwell; and eight great-grandchildren, Dillon Thornley, Ella Thornley, Levi Roof, Ty Franks, Emily Jones, Haley Cordes, Erika Cordes and Conner Curry.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a daughter, Susan Gates; three brothers, Bill Haley, Donald Lee Haley and John Haley; and a sister, Bonnie Haley.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Roman and Billy Howard Memorial Chapel in Melbourne with Wayne Wilson officiating. A graveside memorial service with U.S. Air Force honors will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lunenburg Cemetery. Arrangements are by Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
Pallbearers will be Baxter Haley, Floyd Haley, Todd Tomlinson, Billy Bob Franks, Greg Thornley, Adam Cordes, Bryan Burleson and Steve Curry.
