Obituary
Velma Lee Morgan, age 95, died Saturday, September 1, 2012, in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born April 1, 1917, to Cleveland Addison and Ruth Whiteside Hamilton in McCaskill. Arkansas. She and Doss Prentiss Morgan were married in 1944 until his death in 1992. Shortly after Morgan's discharge from the U.S. Navy at end of World War II, they bought and moved to a farm in the Bellaire community near Dermott, Arkansas, and lived there 45 years. They were members of Bellaire Baptist Church. Survivors include their children, Brode Dana Morgan and wife Cloie of Little Rock, Sandra-Kay Morgan Daniels and husband David of Brentwood, Tennessee; two granddaughters, Katherine Morgan Daniels and Colleen Hamilton Daniels; two step grandsons, Eric Henry (Samantha) and Jonathan Daniels; and one sister Virginia Ruth Hamilton Long (Samuel) of Dallas, Texas. In addition, she is survived by six nieces and four nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Reese Fletcher, Van Everett and Loy Arland Hamilton.
She graduated from Blevins High School, Blevins, Arkansas, in 1934, attended Magnolia A&M College (now Southern Arkansas University) in Magnolia, Arkansas, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1939, from Texas State College for Women (now Texas Women’s University) in Denton, Texas. Her home economics career included five years as home supervisor with Farm Security Administration in Marked Tree, Star City, and Nashville, Arkansas, and 22 years as the home economics teacher at Dermott High School. She was a member of Highland Valley United Methodist Church in Little Rock. She lived 18 years at Parkway Village in Redwood building in Little Rock and cherished her friends there.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 3, 9:30 a.m. at Highland Valley United Methodist Church, 15524 Chenal Parkway in Little Rock. Visitation in the church parlor will follow the service. Also on Monday, September 3, visitation will be held at Griffin Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee, Arkansas, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
A graveside service will be at the Dermott Cemetery in Dermott, Arkansas, at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 4. 2012.

The family extends it sincere thanks to St. Vincent Infirmary, Wing 7E, and Hospice Home Care in Little Rock for their kindness and excellent care.
