ROGERS — J. Frank "Bryant" Smith Jr. died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, at his home in Rogers. He was born July 16, 1920, in Rogers to J. Frank Smith and Dorothy Bryant Smith.

Frank proudly served in the U.S. Navy and retired from the U.S. Naval Reserves. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor and was a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association. He was a member of the Scottish Rite and was a 32nd-degree Mason.

He also worked and retired from the Crane Company. Frank was an avid fisherman and a wonderful father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Geneva Lindner whom he married on Sept. 16, 1948, in Rogers and one brother.

Frank is survived by two daughters, Linda Shofner and husband Randy of Rogers and Briana Patterson and husband David of Pea Ridge; one granddaughter, Marisa Shofner of Rogers; and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. today at Stockdale Funeral Chapel in Rogers with the Rev. Matt Daniels officiating. Burial will be in the Rogers City Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Northwest Arkansas Honor Guard, American Legion Post 100.

Pallbearers will be Paul Meyer, George Painter, Patrick Price, Tom White, Ralph Adams and Mark Lundy. Honorary pallbearer will be Pete Goodart.

Memorials may be made in honor of J. Frank Smith Jr. to the American Diabetes Association, 1660 Duke St, Alexandria, Va., 22314.
