Basil Blount of Sidney, son of the late Clyde and Velma Thomas Blount, was born August 28, 1929 in Lake City. He died March 12, 1999 in Batesville. He was 69.

Mr. Blount was a self-employed farmer and served in the Navy during the Korean War. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include five sisters, Fay O'Guinn and Baye Copeland, both of Michigan; Claire Ramsey and Pauline Ridge, both of Batesville and Naomi Jones of Melbourne; one brother, Darrell Blount of Florida; ten nephews, eleven nieces and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, R.T. Blount; and three sisters, Lillian Seay, Connie Young and Clyce Johnson.

Funeral services were March 15, 1999 at the Roman and Billy Howard Memorial Chapel with Reverend Joe Jackson and Reverend Bob Stewart. Pallbearers were Herman ridge, Donald O'Guinn, Darrell Blount, Dennis Blount, Don O'Guinn and Galen Ivey.

Interment was at Reeves Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
