PLEASANT PLAINS — Joe Shelby Richardson, 79, of Pleasant Plains, formerly of Melbourne, died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, in Pleasant Plains.
Born Jan. 6, 1932, in Melbourne, he was the son of Floyd and Audie Wilkerson Richardson. He was united in marriage to Nancy Sheffeld in May 1979 in Zion. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was employed by Melbourne School District, retiring after 20 years of employment in the maintenance department. He was of the Church of Christ faith.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years; two sons, Shelby Richardson of Calico Rock and James Coan of Pleasant Plains; two brothers, Jim Richardson of Melbourne and Rayburn Richardson of Jonesboro; two grandchildren, Emily Wood and Brady Pratt.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Glen Richardson.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Reeves Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Josh Knapp, Leonard Wood, Carl Wood, Travis Wood, Brent Wood and Bradley Wood.
Honorary pallbearers are Boyce Sheffeld, Kaleb Walker, Karter Walker, Brady Pratt and Emily Wood.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
