October 11, 1883 - November 16, 1968
Gilbert Porter Gammill, 85, of 703 W. Faulkner St., died Saturday morning at a local hospital. He was born Oct. 11, 1883, in Ouachita County, the son of William and Almeda Padgett Gammill. He was a retired lumberman, and had been a resident of El Dorado for 45 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Survivors include three brothers, Anthon Gammill, of Shreveport, Fred Gammill of Pine Bluff and Reed Gammill of Camden; one sister, J. V. James of Pine Bluff, and one grandson, John Porter Gammill of Staunton, Va. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Alvin Murray officiating. Burial will follow in the Arlington Cemetery under the direction of Rumph Mortuary. Pallbearers will be Decimus Reynolds, Wilson Irby, Morgan Griffin, Rex Rorex, Charles Murphy, Jr., Henry Gilliam, E. R. Vansickle and Charles Dunlap. (El Dorado Times - November 18, 1968)
