Steve Sims, Mt. Pleasant, Dies From Wreck Injuries
Roger Steve Sims 17 years old was fatally injured in a car wreck last Wednesday night when the car he was riding in failed to make a curve in southern FultonCounty. He died in a Batesville hospital early Friday morning. Steve was the son of Mr and Mrs Rucker Sims of Mt. Pleasant.
Glenn Finley 16, son of Mr and Mrs Marcus Finley was severely injured in the accident but now has been released from the hospital. Paul Bray was hospitalized for a time, but Paul Gene Dally who was injured only slightly was released from the hospital after first aid.
The youths all of Mt. Pleasant were on their way to attend the district girls basketball tournament at Viola at the time of the accident. The car was totally wrecked in the smashup.
Funeral services for Steve, who was a junior in Mt. Pleasant High School, were held Sunday afternoon at the Sage Baptist Church with Rev. Owen Harvelle and Rev. Carl Davis of Elizabeth in charge of the services. Burial was in Reaves (sp) Cemetery.
Steven was born in the Gid community and had lived in Izard County all his life.
He is survived by his parents, Mr and Mrs R. J. Sims of Mt. Pleasant; two brothers, Evan of Cashmere, Wash., and Harold of Wichita, Kan.; four sisters, Mrs Boyce Banning and Mrs Marlin Craig of Wenatchee, Wash., Mrs J. W. Moser of Sage and Mrs Charles Harris of Melbourne.
