Ray Sears

Ray Ellis Sears, 61 of Siloam Springs, died Friday in Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born Jan. 28, 1918, in Tunis, Mo.

He was the retired owner-operater of the Ray Sears Welding Shop in Siloam Springs. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille Sears of the home; one son, Charles Sears of Pryor, Okla., six daughters, Clara Edwards of Jasper, Mo., Louise Sears of Oklahoma City, Okla., Shirley Howell of Bakersfield, Calif.; Norman Crisler of Arvin, Calif.; Louis Goodman and Wilma Jean Hartle, both of Siloam Springs; his father, Leman Sears of Madera, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, and two sisters.

Services will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, at the Wasson Memorial Chapel, with Dr. L.A. Thomas and Rev. Robert L. Hartley officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam Springs under the direction of the Wasson Funeral Home.

Area Man Killed By Falling Tree

A Siloam Springs resident, Ray Ellis Sears, 61, died Friday at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville from injuries he received when a tree fell on him.

Ellis was taken to WRMC Thursday evening by the Siloam Springs ambulance service. A spokesman for the service said Ellis and several family members were cutting wood near the Illinois River about 5 p.m. when he was fatally injured by the falling tree.

Born Jan. 28, 1918, at Tunis, Mo., he was the son of Leman and Clara Coatney Sears and was a member of the Assembly of God Church. He moved to Siloam Springs 15 years ago from California and was the retired owner and operator of Ray Sears Welding Shop in Siloam Springs.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Lucille Mullin Sears of the home; one son, Charles Sears of Pryor, Okla.; six daughters, Mrs. Clara Edwards of Jasper, Mo., Miss Louise Sears of Oklahoma City, Okla., Mrs. Shirley Howell of Bakersfield, Calif., Mrs. Norma Crisler of Arvin, Calif., Mrs. Lois Goodman and Mrs. Wilma Jean Hartley of Siloam Springs; his father of Madera, Calif.; two brothers; two sisters; 14 grandchildren; and one-great-grandchild.
