Hindsville Youth Killed In Cycle-Car Wreck At Goshen

A 15-year-old, Hindsville youth was killed
and his companion injured when their motorcycle collided with a car at the intersection of Hwy. 45 and County Road 70 in Goshen about 11 p.m. Thursday.

State Trooper Tommy Baker identified the dead youth as David Ray Shields of Route 2, Hindsville. Anthony B. Hinkle, 16, of Hindsville, who was driving the motorcycle, was in good condition today at Washington Regional Medical Center.

Baker said the accident occurred when themotorcycle pulled onto Hwy. 45 from the county road and collided with a car driven by James Richard Storey, 19, of Fayetteville. Storey's car then struck one driven by Mrs. Patti Price Taliaferro, 22, of Eureka Springs.

Storey and Mrs. Taliaferro escaped injury as did their passengers.

COUNTY DEATH TOLL

Baker said the motercycle was southbound on the county road, the Storey car traveling west and the Taliaferro vehicle going east at the time of the crash.

Shields death brings Washington County's 1974 traffic toll to seven, compared to 16 by this date in 1973.

Shields was born Sept. 5, 1958 in Wichita, Kan., the son of Gerald and Betty Henderson Shields, and was a sophomore at Huntsville High School.

Survivors in addition to the parents are one brother, Jerry of Fayetteville; one sister, Denise of the home; the paternal-grandfather, Fred D. Shields or Wichita; the paternal grandmother, Mrs. Minnie Shields of Fort Smith and the maternal grandmother, Mrs. Ruth Henderson of Fayetteville.

Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Nelson's Funeral Chapel with Burial in National Cemetery.
