HAWK, J.A. - Siloam Springs, Jan. 8.— J.A. Hawk, for 12 years a resident of Siloam Springs and owner of a small farm near here, was killed about 10 o'clock Wednesday morning on highway No. 16 while en route with Warren Younger and Hawk's daughter, Mary Ruth Hawk, to Springfield, Mo. Hawk was struck by an automobile but the name of the driver of the car was not learned in Siloam Springs. Reports of the accident reaching Siloam Springs stated that the truck in which Hawk and his daughter and Younger were riding had left the highway because of a slippery condition. Hawk and Younger were attempting to put the truck back on the highway when the second automobile struck Hawk, reports stated. The accident occurred about five miles west of Pierce City, Mo. Hawk was taken there for treatment but died a short time after the accident, it was reported here. He is survived by his wife, his daughter and two brothers, U.S. Hawk and O.C. Hawk of Siloam Springs.
