Esbie "Bill" Brooks, age 77, of Batesville, Arkansas passed away Monday, June 25, 2007 at his home. Born on October 19, 1929 in Mt. Pleasant, Arkansas, he was the son of Charlie Brooks and Josephine Jones Brooks.
Bill was employed for many years at Cloud Oak Flooring Company in West Plains, MO, he retired from farming in West Plains in 1972 and moved to Batesville in 1973. Bill was a man who truly loved life, a true outdoorsman who never met a stranger. He loved his family, his friends and playing music for the Lord in area churches and nursing homes. He was a member of the Pfeiffer Full Gospel Church.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Bessie Robinson Brooks of Batesville and their two children, a son, Roger Brooks and his wife, Sandy of Maumelle and a daughter, Rebecca Brooks of Batesville; two granddaughters, Samantha A. Brooks of Memphis and Jennifer Campbell and her husband, Mike of Moline, IL; one great grandson, Jack Campbell; four brothers, Delphia Brooks of West Plains, MO, Floyd Brooks of Peoria, IL, Lloyd Brooks of Mt. Pleasant and Tad Brooks of Rockford, IL and two sisters, Jean Vanatta and Doris Jackson both of Melbourne. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Icephine Shaver and three brothers, Ezra Brooks, Elgin Brooks and Everett Brooks.
Services are Thursday, June 28, 11:00 a.m., at the Willis-Hays Chapel in Batesville with Hoover Lewis and Charles Barnett officiating. Burial will follow in the Reeves Cemetery in Guion under the direction of Willis-Hays Funeral Service of Batesville.
Visitation is Wednesday evening from 5-7 p.m.
