JARVIS, Mrs. James Henry {DEANE} - {Fayetteville, Ark., April 14} James Henry Jarvis, a farmer living several miles north of this place, early this morning shot and instantly killed his wife. He then attempted to take his own life by severing a blood vessel. He cut three ugly gashes in his arm with a razor. The wounds are not serious. He is in jail and refuses to make a statement as to the killing, except that he had had trouble with his wife and that he determined three days ago to kill her. The weapon used was an old army musket. Jarvis has lived in this county six years. He admits having killed a man in Tennessee and changing his name to Jarvis. He refuses to give his former name. He has five children.

Mr. Wiley Deane, near Harris, the father of Mrs. Jarvis who was recently murdered in Zion neighborhood, went to his daughter's home yesterday and got the five orphaned children, whom he will rear as his own.
