Garland Speck

SPRINGDALE — Garland Speck, 84, of Springdale died Jan. 5, 2008, at the Fayetteville Veterans Home. He was born Dec. 7, 1923, in Spring Valley to Booker and Martha Speck.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Speck on Nov. 16, 2004, after 57 years of marriage.

Garland was a printer for the Northwest Arkansas Times for 33 years and he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Silent Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Speck of Springdale and David Speck of Rogers; four grandchildren, Crystal Hahn and husband Brad of Fayetteville, Kelly Alexander and husband Jason of Rogers, Brandon Dickerson of Dallas and Jennifer Thomas and husband David of Bentonville; one great-grandchild, Landon Alexander of Rogers.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008, at the Friendship Cemetery in Springdale with Paul Woodhouse officiating.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale.

Edith Speck

SPRINGDALE — Edith Bryant Speck, 79, of Springdale died Nov. 16, 2004, at her home. She was born April 12,1925 in Hartman to Jasper and Dora McMillion Pennington. She was a retired poultry lab technician for the state of Arkansas and was a homemaker. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and was a Protestant.

Survivors include her husband, Garland Speck of the home, to whom she was married Dec, 5, 1947; two sons, David Speck of Rogers and Larry Speck of Springdale; two brothers, Ardell Pennington and Vanis Pennington, both of Springdale; four grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Friendship Cemetery with Paul Woodhouse officiating.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Sisco Chapel in Sprinpdale.
