Douglas Leroy Johnson, Sr., 47, left this life April 28, 2010, to be with his family in heaven at 3:15 p.m. Doug was born at Lincoln, Nebraska, on December 14, 1962, to his parents Curtis and Delores Johnson. He was the youngest of four children.
Doug was a very devoted man to his family and was soft spoken and very concerned about people. He was a devoted care giver to his father before he died in January. He loved to hunt and fish, mainly deer and ducks, and took numerous duck hunting trips. He was in the Air Force and was stationed at Elgin Air Force Base, Florida, Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska, and at New Mexico. During his tour in Alaska he was on Artic Rescue and helped rescue a person from a helicopter.
Doug was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Johnson; sisters, Deborah Styers and Marla Johnson; grandparents, Ira and Gladys Johnson of Quitman and Leroy and Elverta Carpenter from Humboldt, Nebraska.
He is survived by two sons, Douglas Johnson, Jr. and Trent Goff; one daughter, Jennifer Belt; his mother, Delores Johnson; one brother, Craig Johnson, Sr., all of Quitman; his special friend, Evelin Hampton of Hot Springs and their two precious dogs, Bailey and Cricket; three grandchildren; two nephews, Craig Johnson, Jr, US Army, and Joshua Johnson, US Marines; two nieces, Brandi McClendon and Cindy Baker of Greers Ferry; and a host of other family members and friends.
