Felix Jefferson Edwards, also known as Billy Joe Simmons, 71, of Pocahontas died Saturday, Feb. 7, at the VA Medical Center in Memphis.

He was born at Rector and worked as a welder.

Survivors include his wife, Priscilla "Pat" Wright Edwards of Pocahontas; four sons, Ricky Edwards of Burns, Ore., Michael Edwards of Toledo, Ore., Rodney Edwards of Albany, Ore., and Tommy Edwards of Orgeon; three daughters, Linda Tippitt and Tami Murray, both of Rector, and Cheri Adams of Cabot; one brother, Tommy Edwards of Imboden; three sisters, Bertha Miller and Polly Hudson, both of Modesto, Calif., and Dorothy Glasco of Mississippi; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Desie Edwards; his foster parents, John Simmons and Lydia Burkett; one brother, Don Edwards; and sisters, Ida Edwards and Freida "Sissy" Knight.

Funeral services were 1:30 p.m. at Great Harvest Church, with Paul Craig officiating.
