BALL, Henry Spencer - The many boyhood friends and schoolmates of Spencer Ball and friends of the Ball family here were shocked late Friday to learn of his accidental death which had occurred that afternoon at Muskogee, Okla. while working in line of duty as an employee of the Oklahoma Gas and Electric Co. He was a member of the crew employed in handling and repairing the high tension lines and while working on a pole Friday afternoon slipped and fell across the wires. He was cut loose by a crewmate working with him but death was instantaneous. Henry Spencer Ball was born at Colby, Kan. December 27th, 1892, his death occurring April 3, 1925 at the age of 32 years, 3 months and 7 days. Coming to Bentonville with his parents and brothers and sisters when quite small, he lived here until 15 or 16 years of age, attending the Bentonville schools and has often since visited with friends and relatives here. On October 18, 1914 he enlisted at Cheyenne, Wyo. in the United States Marine Corps. During the World War he served overseas with the 16th Company, 5th Marines, of the Second Division, as gunnery sergeant, four of the boys of this family serving with America's overseas forces and another brother, Frank, being in training camp when the armistice was signed. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 384, Muskogee. That he was a conscientious worker and stood high in the regard of his superiors on the work and his fellow-workers is shown by the fact that ten of these came to Bentonville to attend his funeral, while of the immense number of floral tributes heaped about the casket, the greater part were from those who had worked side by side with him. Mr. Ball is survived by one sister, Miss Eunice L. Ball of Muskogee and six brothers: Rex H. and Harry E. of Muskogee; Ted J., Fort Worth, Texas; Benton, Birmingham, Ala.; John H., Hoxie, Ark. and Frank R , Wichita Falls, Tex. These were all here for the funeral except Frank and John Ball. Mrs. Rex H. Ball, Mrs. Harry E. Ball and Mrs. Benton Ball were also here. His parents and two other sisters, Mrs. R.C. Whayne of Bentonville and Mrs. Fred Hinde of Madison, Kan. died several years ago.
