BLACK, Alex G. - Alex G. Black is dead. These words brought surprise and sadness wherever they were heard, for Alex Black was loved and admired by all who knew him. He died at the family home in this city last Saturday after a weeks' illness of pneumonia. The funeral services were very impressive and the Presbyterian church was beautifully decorated with flowers that he loved so well. The Boy Scouts band of Siloam Springs and the boys band of Bentonville rendered fitting music that he had so patiently taught them. Age prevented him from accompanying his first loved band to Mexico and later to France. This was one of his life's disappointments. But Mr. Black was more than a musician. As a man of business he was private secretary to Senator J.H. Berry and an expert accountant, having held many places of trust in different banks. But we all shall know him best as a musician and by the musical talent he has developed in Benton County.
