James Dewey Self, age 52, of Maple Springs died Friday, July 16, 2004 at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. He was born October 31, 1951, in Newport, to Robert Dewey and Willene (Crutcher) Self. He was a retired truck driver and a member of the Maple Springs Missionary Baptist Church at Maple Springs. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife Monica Self of the home; one son, Marvin Dunn of the home; three daughters, Jo Lynn Davis and Heather Beal, both of Tuckerman, and Destiny Self of the home; one brother, Daniel Self of Hooper, Utah; one sister, Linda Rutledge of Batesville; three grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were Monday, July 19, 2004 at 10 a.m. at the Maple Springs Missionary Baptist Church at Maple Springs with Bro. Curt Howard officiating. Burial followed in the Maple Springs Cemetery with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service at Batesville. Visitation was Sunday, July 18, 2004, from 2-4 p.m. Pallbearers were Randy Williams, Glenneth St. John, Andy Williford, Jim Martin, Wayne Bledsoe, Keith Bledsoe, Wesley Fike, and Jamie Barber. Honorary pallbearers were Terry Young, Finis Kelly, Tom Clark, and Ron Webb.
