Steve Lane Tye, age 87 of Searcy, died Saturday in Searcy. He was born February 26, 1918 at Morganton, Arkansas to William J. Tye and Mattie (Jennings) Tye. He was a member of West Race Baptist Church, a Charter member of the Arkansas Racking Horse Association, a member of several local riding associations, a US Army Veteran of WWII, and a life-time member of the VFW, American Legion, and the DAV. Mr. Tye made his living as a car salesman since the late 1940’s. In 1955 he went into business for himself with Steve Tye’s Used Cars, where his motto was “We don’t want all the business, just your’s.” He is survived by one daughter, Pat L. Bolding of Searcy; one son, Steve Brice Tye of Judsonia; four grandchildren, Claude William Bolding of Bartlett, Tennessee, Michael Lynn Bolding of Judsonia, Jennifer Tye of Austin, Texas, Shelly Tye of Conway; five great-grandchildren, Michael Bolding of Judsonia, Lindsey Bolding of Tipton, Oklahoma, Olivia Bolding of Bartlett, Tennessee, William Bolding of Bartlett, Tennessee, Kali Bolding of Bartlett, Tennessee; and other family members, Dwan Day of Choctaw, Arkansas, Wilda Jones of Choctaw, Arkansas, Jewell Ruth Holt of Aldrich, Missouri, and Jamie Miller of Sallisaw, Oklahoma. He is preceded in death by his parents, William J. and Mattie Tye; four brothers, Wilburn, Weldon, John, and Euel; and two sisters, Lee and Ruby. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at Hardin Cemetery near Bee Branch.
