February 13, 1857 - May 2, 1950
Mrs. Mary Seleta Gillespie, age 93, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lillian Warren, 310 Clifton street at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday. Mrs. Gillespie had been living in Camden for the past 24 years. She was a member of the Madison Street Church of Christ. On February 13, 1948, Mrs. Gillespie celebrated her 91st birthday at her daughter's home here. Surviving her are six daughters: Mrs. Lillian Warren of Camden; Mrs. Lucia Yates of Haynesville, La.; Mrs. Ethel Rushton of Searcy; and Mrs. Esta Maloch of Camden; two sons, Fred Gillespie of Little Rock and Cleve Gillespie of Los Angeles, Calif.; 26 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Madison Street Church of Christ at 4:00 p.m. today, conducted by Steral A. Watson, assisted by Earl Richardson. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers are A. F. Byrd, Ralph Bell, J. F. Hollis, C. E. Milam, J. E. Thompson, and Hugh R. Hogg. Proctor mortuary in charge. (Camden News - May 3, 1950)
