SILOAM SPRINGS — Billie Irene Vargas-Polk, 68, of Siloam Springs died Sept. 30, 2007, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. She was born Aug. 17, 1939, in Fulton, Kan., to William Roe Krebs and Winifred Irene Gump Krebs. She earned a nursing degree in 1985 and had worked in ICU and CCU and home health in Kansas, Arkansas and Oklahoma. She attended Power and Light Bible School in 1998 and began a service as a missionary to India. She was awarded the Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy in Christian Education through the University of Hawaii in August 2003. She married Norman Dale Polk, on Oct. 11, 2004. She was a member of the Galilean Church in Kansas, Okla. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and canning.
Survivors include her husband, Norman Dale Polk of the home; her mother of Sapulpa, Okla.; one daughter, Sherry Easley and husband Donald of Broken Arrow, Okla.; one son, Kenneth Crawford and wife Paula of Locust Grove, Okla.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Claude Krebs of Sapulpa.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Siloam Springs with the Rev. Layton Reed officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, online at www.backstrompyeatte.com.
