Calvin Easterling, age 88, passed away on March 4th, 2011 in North Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born in Nevada County, Arkansas, on January 6th, 1923, to James Thomas Easterling and Dora Sampson Easterling. He was a World War II Army veteran who served in the pacific Theatre. He worked for the Missouri Pacific Railroad for 42 years and retired as a supervisor.

Calvin is preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Beulah Beatrice, parents, brothers, J.T., Doug, and Woodrow, and sisters, Mary Anne Fore and marguerite Rowe, and sisters-in-law, Gladys and Virginia Easterling, and nephew, Doug Easterling Jr., many close cousins, relatives, and friends. He is survived by his loving daughter, Connie Lane Woodard, son-in-law, Jim Woodard, grandson, Timothy James Woodard, sisters-in-law, Mary Dell Tippitt, nieces, Sandy White (Don), Judy Petty (Jerry), Pam Herring (Joe), Charlotte Workman (Ron), Mary Alice Easterling, and Cathy Howard (Randy), nephew Tommy Cox, and cousins, Jimmy Sampson, Mary Lou Sampson, and Patricia Munns (Jim) and loved pet Sugar.

Calvin was a long-time member of Big Rock Masonic Lodge of North Little Rock and 32 Degree Mason, and he was a member of Baring Cross Baptist church. He was an avid hunter, gardener, and loved to take trips in his RV.

We want thank our special nieces, nephews, and cousins for all of their support and love. A special thank you to Calvin's daily care-givers Pam Surrett, Andrea Moon, Christina White, and Rosa Gentry. A special thanks to Odyssey Hospice for his special care. Thanks go out to his kind neighbors and friends for always remembering him. Calvin was special and talented and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Please come and join us in our celebration of his life.

Family visitation will occur at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 10th, 2011 followed by Calvin's funeral at 2 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Rd., North Little Rock, Ark. 72117 (501) 835-3515 with Reverend Joe Merrell officiating. A celebration reception will occur at Connie and Jim Woodard's home immediately following the funeral service.
