Gordon William Griffin, 62, of Tomball, Texas passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, June 21, 2012.
He was born January 12, 1950 in Austin, Texas to the late Gordon Willis Griffin and Martha Lel Hawkins.
Gordon is survived by his loving wife, Sally Green Griffin; daughter Maggie Griffin; son James Griffin; sister Patt Griffin; nephews Bill and Cliff Edwards; and his beloved dog, Lucy.
He was totally devoted to his family and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Gordon grew up in Austin, Texas. He graduated from Austin High School and the University of Texas, with a Bachelors Degree in Finance in 1974. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.
Gordon worked in banking, and after marrying Sally in 1979, in the families' automobile business, Jimmie Green Chevrolet. He later worked for the Tom Gray Dealerships and Gillman Organization.
A Funeral Service is set for 1:00 P.M., Sunday, June 24, 2012 at The Woodlands Community Presbyterian Church, 4881 W. Panther Creek Dr., The Woodlands, Texas 77381. A Graveside Service is set for 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, June 26, 2012 in Columbus Cemetery, Columbus, Arkansas. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Gulf Coast Youth Scholarship Fund, c/o Kevin Smith, 24303 Cougar Street, Magnolia, Texas 77355. www.forestparkthewoodlands.com
