S. L. Cross, aged 52, electrical appliance dealer here, died at his home, 401 Hamilton street, at 5:35 p.m. Friday. He owned and operated the Cross Appliance Company here for several years. Mr. Cross was a member of the First Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge and the Rotary Club. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Shelton Cross, Jr., and Bolls Cross, all of Camden; his mother, Mrs. D. L. Beauchamp of Beckville, Texas; a sister, Mrs. W. O. Dolson of Camden; and two brothers, A. E. of Texarkana, Ark., and Ivey Cross of Camden. Funeral services will be held at the First Methodist church at 2 p.m. Saturday by the Rev. W. Neill Hart. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery. The Masonic lodge will be in charge at the cemetery. Proctor mortuary will be in charge of arrangements. Active pallbearers will be Greer Daniels, K. B. Hughes, John Dawson, Van Mosley, A. C. Williams and Herbert Garrett. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Ben Laney Barraca Class, H. S. Matthews, Euel Merritt, Homer Livingston, O. A. Gilleland, Sr., Milton Benton, Ed Livingston, Ike Knight, Ray Williams, E. W. Copeland and Frank Tuminello. (Camden News - September 17, 1949)
