Gladys Mardell Girndt, 87, of Gentry, died April 27, 2007, at Quail Ridge Living Center in West Siloam Springs.

She was born Jan. 10, 1920, in Caraway to Charles Edward Gilbert and Ollie Mae Martin Gilbert. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Gentry. She married Paul R. Girndt on Sept. 21, 1970, in Southheaven, Miss.

She was preceded in death by sisters Beatrice Bond, Jewell Eddings and Juanita
Harrison.

Survivors include her husband of the home; daughter Shirley Smith and husband Clarence of Gravette; stepsons Paul Girndt Jr. and wife Sonja of Cabot, and Charles Girndt and wife Kathy of North Little Rock; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Gentry, with Robin Cowin officiating. Burial will follow at Gentry Cemetery. Visitation will be at 630 to 8 p.m. Monday at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs. Arrangements are under the direction of Wasson Mineral Home, www.wassonfuneralhome.com.

GENTRY — Paul R. Girndt, 93, of Gentry, Ark., died Jan. 16, 2014, at Circle of Life Hospice, Springdale, Ark. Born Sept. 25, 1920, in Chicago, Ill., he was the son of Paul Reynold Girndt and Clara Hoby Girndt. He was an Army/Air Force veteran of having served in World War II, the Korean War, and did one tour in Vietnam. He retired from the military in 1969 and moved to Jacksonville, Ark.

In 1999, he moved to Gentry. He was a lifelong member of the Memphis Lodge No. 118, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Gentry. He married Gladys Mardell Martin in Southhaven, Miss., on Sept. 21, 1970.

He was preceded in death by his wife; two brothers, Robert Girndt, Clifford Girndt; one sister, Dorothy Berti; and one daughter-in-law, Joann Horton.

Survivors include two sons, Paul Girndt Jr. of Cabot, Ark., and Charles Girndt and wife, Kathy of North Little Rock, Ark.; one stepdaughter, Shirley Sue Smith and husband, Cliff of Northwest Arkansas; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren: six great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at First Baptist Church, Gentry, with Dr. Robin Cowin officiating. Burial will follow at Gentry Cemetery.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. today, Jan. 19, 2014, at Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs, Ark.
